As many of you know, I have been fighting breast cancer myself since March of last year and cancer research is very near to my heart. Megabus.com is donating $1 for every ticket sold on January 19 to support breast cancer. With an average of 20,000 tickets sold daily, the funds will go to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. If detected early, breast cancer can be controlled. It’s when the disease spreads, or metastasizes, that it often turns lethal. Metastatic cancer cells can lie dormant for years, even decades, only to “wake up” and find their way into different parts of the body, such as the lungs, liver, brain or bones. For those patients whose cancer metastasizes, there has been little hope for long-term survival. Which is very scary stuff!
There’s nothing more important than stopping cancer in its tracks. Breast Cancer Research Foundation has committed $31 million to tackling metastasis through a multi-year, multi-institutional international collaboration. So if you are looking for a great way to travel be sure to consider purchasing your Megabus ticket tomorrow on January 19 and support breast cancer research while you are at it!
Kicking off the effort, breast cancer survivors and their loves ones will christen a new custom pink and BCRF branded Megabus which will be hitting the road this winter for a special trip to New York City. The bus will depart from the Megabus.com headquarters with company executives and BCRF leadership aboard and head to New York City to attend a taping of The View.
