One frugal and fun way to make bargain gifts is to make your own gift baskets. On December 24, yes on Christmas Eve, I went to Walmart to buy some items for a cute doggie gift basket.
It was surprisingly not that busy and I was able to pick up a last minute gift, some wrapping paper and items to make a doggie gift basket.
A doggie gift basket is great for your own pet or to give to friends as a welcome home gift for a new puppy. Many people get puppies at this time of year and could use a few supplies.
I planned to make the gift basket for our family dog for a Christmas gift. Since she is a part of our family, I wanted her to have a few items under the tree. However, I wanted to make sure that the items I purchased would be used and loved by our dog. I decided get some dog treats, a toy and some grooming items.
In the end I picked up Milk-Bone®, Pup-Peroni Treats and Milo’s Kitchen Treats. I loved the variety of treats that each brand has and I am sure my dog will love them too.
I also bought an adorable Angry Birds Frisbee. One side is the bird and one side is the pig. It looks fun and durable. My dog can tear those little stuffed toys apart in seconds so I am always looking for more durable toys.

Be sure to come back on Jan 6 to see the finished gift basket.
