Summer is here; the kids are home, and likely more time will be spent outdoors. While June will find us entertaining outdoors, we will still be spending a lot of time in the heart of the home—the kitchen.

Sanitize dishwasher, refill rinse aid -


Run an empty load with 1 cup of baking soda, then a second with vinegar. Refill the rinse aid cup with store-bought rinse aid or plain vinegar.

The kitchen is a hot spot for clutter, piles of bills, mismatched plastic containers, jackets, and homework.

Spend 10 minutes removing clutter from the counters

Run 2 cups of vinegar through your coffee pot, and follow up with 2-3 cups of water to rinse clean. Wipe down the outside.

Descale your coffee pot

Clean and degrease cabinets

Cooking, over time, leaves a residue of grease and dirt on your cabinets. Mix 1 cup of hot water with ¼ cup of Dawn and ¼ cup of vinegar, soak a rag in the mixture or spray-on cabinets and wipe down.

Scrub around faucet and knobs

Grab an old toothbrush and scrub around the faucet and knobs of the sink, use a little damp baking soda for scrubbing power.
