As part of my ambassador position with OnStar this year, they let me borrow a 2015 Cadillac ATS Coupe for a week to try out all the fun and very useful new features that OnStar offers. As a busy mom, I find myself in the car quite a few hours a day. Driving from school to practice, to dance and more. Sometimes with traffic it really doesn’t make sense to go home.
Using OnStar with 4G LTE*, I was actually able to work in my car and not waste time. It was so easy to connect my laptop, I just plugged in the password that I found in the Wi-Fi settings of the car and I was good to go! It was so nice to get a little more done especially during this busy time of year.
My girls loved having the built-in OnStar Wi-Fi hotspot because it supports up to 7 mobile devices and is easy to stream video. We had to travel a few hours for an event and they were able to stream Netflix easily right on their mobile devices. I didn’t hear “When will we be there?”once.
You could use a smartphone’s hotspot but the built-in OnStar with 4G LTE provides a better in- vehicle experience. The stronger signal means you have a reliable connection and the built-inWi-Fi hotspot is powered by your vehicle. You don’t have to rely on a mobile device battery. It is nice not using up my smartphone’s battery to power the Wi-Fi connection. Another nice feature is that it is automatically on and ready to connect to your devices. You don’t have to set it up each time you want to use it.
I love that OnStar can easily get you directions anywhere you need to go or to the nearest gas station or even a Starbucks plus they download the directions right to your car. It really can’t get easier than that! Check out this video I made showing exactly how it works.
I have talked all about the fun features of OnStar but my favorite features are still those related to safety. OnStar has Automatic Crash Response, Vehicle Diagnostics, Stolen Vehicle Assistance and Remote Door Unlock. I feel so much safer in my vehicle knowing that if I ever get in an accident, OnStar will help me. This gives me such peace of mind whenever I drive my current vehicle with OnStar service.
Be sure to learn more about the technology and how to get it here. You can also learn more about how people are using in-vehicle Wi-Fi. Be sure to like OnStar on Facebook to get even more great information!
