Easy DIY Valentines
You will only need a few supplies to assemble these Easy DIY Valentines. You may already have many of these supplies at home. We put together a list of supplies you will need and make a few suggestions on where to find the best supplies to create your Easy DIY Valentines.
We have found that it is best to print your valentines on white cardstock that is 110 lbs that is specifically good for printing with your home printer. I buy mine in a large pack and there are leftovers for future projects. We found so many shoe charms on Amazon. We put some of our favorite packs below. Some have a circle backing and some have a clip-style backing. Both styles work for this project. When buying bulk packs of shoe charms, be sure to check your pack. Sometimes, I have found one or two charms mixed in the pack that are not kid-friendly.
Easy DIY Valentines – Supplies
- Shoe Charms Valentine – Free Printable File
- White 110 lb. Cardstock for Printing
- Craft Paper Trimmer or Scissors
- Exacto Knife
- A self-healing crafting mat or a cutting board
- Scotch Tape
- Shoe Charms
First download the free file below (see sign-up form). The file will print two valentines per page and can be printed on your home printer, on 8.5 x 11 white cardstock. I suggest using 110lb cardstock to create durable cards.
Then use a crafting paper trimmer or scissors to cut out your free printable valentines. Using a crafting paper trimmer will speed up the process and is best for getting accurate straight edges.
Using your exacto knife, cut a uniform-sized cross (see photo above), all the way through the card, where you want to attach your shoe charm. Gently insert your shoe charm at an angle. You can attach a piece of tape, across the shoe charm backing, on the back side of your card, to make sure the shoe charm is secure.

This Neenah White 110lb Cardstock is a great weight for cardmaking. This is what I use for my cards. It works well in my printer and it is a nice weight. This pack includes with 250 sheets of 8.5 x 11 cardstock.
This Fiskars SureCut Deluxe Craft Paper Trimmer is so much easier to use rather than trying to get straight edges with scissors. I can trim across the tops of both Valentine's making cutting quicker and easier.
I have this EK Tools Retractable Knife and I love that you can press the button at the end of the knife and the blade stores inside, so I don't poke myself when I grab it. This knife is perfect for detailed cutting and has a comfort grip handle. This set includes five replacement blades.
