Small Gift Ideas for Christmas

Sometimes minimalist Christmas gift ideas are best! These adorable DIY chocolate wreaths taste great, come together quickly and make the perfect small gift ideas for Christmas. I love making handmade gifts, but nobody wants to stay up late, rushing to assemble their homemade Christmas gift ideas. We included easy directions and even created a variety of free printable gift tags that you can print at home, cut out and attach to these adorable chocolate wreaths.

How to Make an Easy DIY Chocolate Wreath

To make these easy DIY chocolate wreath homemade Christmas gifts, you only need a few supplies. You can choose what type of round chocolates that you want to include in your wreath, but I highly recommend Lindt candy truffles or the Ferrero Rocher Chocolates, wrapped in gold foil. I used 7 Lindt truffles in my chocolate wreath, but if you are using the Ferrero Rocher candies, they are a tiny bit bigger and 6 of those works great. You can experiment with how many candies you want to include! We’ve included photos of the project below.

Supplies Needed

  • Lindt (7), Ferrero Rocher (6) or another brand of round candies
  • Roll of cellophane wrap
  • Thin, white string
  • Ribbon 1/2 inch or your preference
  • Scissors
  • Clear Scotch Tape
  • Free Printable Tags File
  • 110lb. Smooth Cardstock
  • Home Printer
  • Hole Punch
  • Craft paper Trimmer (optional)

First download our free printable gift tags file (in the sign up below). Each page has 8-9 tags per page and you can use any extra tags for other gifts or save them for later. When printing, you can print just the pages that you like or print them all. I recommend printing these tags on 110lb Smooth White Cardstock. Then cut out your tags with your paper trimmer or scissors and punch the hole with your hole puncher.

Choose out 6 or 7 of your choice of large, round chocolate candies. I like to do all one color, but you can vary the colors too. Cut a long piece of cellophane (the length of the roll), and tall enough to wrap around the row of candies, 1.5 times around the row. Lay out the row of candies with a small space in between each candy, roll them like a tube and secure the seam with 1-2 pieces of clear scotch tape.

Cut 4-inch pieces of string.  Tie one piece of string in a knot, to the left of the first chocolate and then tie and knot one piece in between each chocolate. You can adjust the chocolates as you go along to make sure they are spaced evenly. Once they are all tied, trim the strings down to the knot on all of them, except for the white string that is tied on the very end. Bring your ends together and use the white end string to tie the ends of your wreath together, to form your wreath.

Once you have used the end string to tie the ends together in a knot and form your wreath, you can trim the cellophane, leaving 1.5 to 2 inches and trim the last white string. Cut a 7-8 inch piece of ribbon, tie it once around the tied ends, at the top of your wreath. Fill out your tag and slide it through one end. Tie the ribbon into a pretty bow and trim the ends to make them even.
