St. Patrick’s Day Rice Krispie Treats
By just using a cookie cutter, you can make many different types of holiday Rice Krispie treats. In this case, I used a Shamrock cookie cutter. This recipe will make about 1 dozen shamrock Rice Krispie treats, depending on how you align the cookie cutter.
Shamrock Rice Krispie Treats Ingredients
The first 3 ingredients are the standard ingredients to make homemade Rice Krispie treats. The next few items are what I used to take them from basic Rice Krispie Treats to a special St. Patrick’s Day treat!
- 3 tbsp butter
- 10 oz package mini marshmallows
- 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
- 3.2” shamrock cookie cutter
- 4oz green candy melts
- Gold sanding sugar
How to Make St. Patrick’s Day Rice Krispie Treats
- Melt butter in a large pot over low heat.
- Add marshmallows, and stir until they are completely melted.
- Remove from heat and stir in Rice Krispies cereal.
- Pour into a 9×13 inch pan lined with parchment paper, and use a buttered spatula to spread it out.
- Refrigerate for 1 hour to help set them for easier cutting.
- Remove the parchment paper with the sheet of Rice Krispies, then set on a table or counter.
- Use the cookie cutter to cut shamrocks out.
- Add the candy melts to a microwave safe bowl, then heat in 30 second intervals, stirring between each heating session, until the candy is fully melted.
- Use a piping bag, ziplock baggie, or a spoon to drizzle melted candy across the shamrock krispies treats.
- Sprinkle gold sanding sugar over the candy drizzle.
The great thing about this St. Patrick’s Day Rice Krispie Treats Recipe is that you can change it up for any holiday. Just follow the basic directions but you can get a different cookie cutter and chocolate. For example, for Valentine’s Day, you could use a heart cookie cutter and pink or red chocolate to drizzle.
