I recently filmed a piece for Channel 4 WDIV with frugal Valentine Gift Ideas. The main point with Valentine Day gifts is it really is the thought that counts. Think about what activities your Valentine loves and that can get you started on some great frugal Valentine gifts for women, men and kids! We have a few ideas to help you on your way.

Frugal Valentine Gifts For Women

1. Gift Bag with small indulgences. Think about some of your Valentine’s favorites. I included Philosophy bubble bath which I personally love. You can get Philosophy bubble bath from Nordstrom with free shipping or  there is a HUGE selection from Philosphy.com . However, shipping is only free on orders over $50. I also included L’Occitane Hand Cream. This is a wonderful product and a nice indulgence.

Throw in a book or magazine some lip gloss and you have a nice little gift bag. I also included some Dove chocolates. I purchased them with a Buy One Get one  free sale. You can always find the best prices on chocolate or any item by using the Favado Smartphone app.

If you have kids, offer to watch them and let her relax in the tub for a bit. This would be a gift many women would love. Remember though it is important to think about what she loves and fill the bag with those items. Some women may like something very different in their gift bag.

2. Personalized item – I am a huge fan a personalized items for example mugs, photobooks, smart phone cases or canvases. You can get these printed at Shutterfly or Snapfish.

Don’t have time to get one of these printed? I love Stepping Stone Kits. These are great personalized with handprints and stamping Happy Valentines Day and the date. You can get these locally at Michael’s as well.

Frugal Valentine’s Gift Ideas for Men

1. If your Valentine likes craft beer, getting  a growler filled could make your Valentine a happy man. A few spots in Metro Detroit area to fill growlers include Rochester Mills, Clubhouse BFD, Griffin Claw, Motor City Brewing Works, Black Finn and Black Lotus.

2. Magazine Subscriptions –  These make great gifts for anyone. Just buy this month’s issue to wrap and then also purchase a subscription. No matter what your Valentine’s interest, there probably is a magazine for it. I find that one of the best places to purchase magazine subscription is  Discount Mags. You can use coupon code BARGAINSHOPPERMOM to get 20% off of most titles at DiscountMags! You can often get an annual subscription for less than $5!

3. Portable Charger – With the many electronics we all now own a  Portable Charger External Battery   is a great gift for anyone. My husband keeps one in his briefcase. I keep one in my purse and my daughter keeps one in her backpack. This solves the dead phone crisis.
